YAAAY, we have snow!! The only thing that makes winter bearable is when it snows, and here in the Bluegrass, we really don’t get that much. So when it snows, and it’s enough to cover the ground completely, my winter is complete. 😀
I will say, though, taking pictures in the cold is BRUTAL. Usually I’d be wearing a thick coat, hat, gloves, and a scarf when going outside. But of course, for the sake of fashion, I had to shed the layers and suck it up to have my snow pictures. My poor husband also had to forego wearing gloves in order to take pictures. He would snap a few shots and then quickly put his hands in his coat pockets, jump up and down, etc., while I changed poses. He’s a trooper 🙂 <3
One of the unfortunate side-affects of my being outside is that my nose turns BRIGHT red. #notattractive And it happens all the time. Within two minutes of being outside, my nose turned pink, as you can see in the pictures :D. Does anyone else’s nose do that, or is it just mine?
Speaking of cold, the best way I’ve been beating the freeze is layers, layers, LAYERS. Even underneath my coat and scarf, you can usually find some sort of quilted vest keeping me warm! This gray vest (unfortunately sold out right now) has been worn so many times these last couple of months!
Want to know one of my other winter favorites? These sherpa-lined ankle booties! Extra warm and cozy, these boots have been a life-saver the last couple weeks with the freezing temps that we’ve had, and now 6″ of snow. Hunter boots are great, but even with boot liners and socks, they still aren’t warm enough. And they squeak when I walk, which is very distracting to my students….and me 🙂
I still wear my other ankle booties, but they are unlined and obviously not warm enough. Plus they make my feet sweat when I wear them with thick socks, and who likes that, right? #ew
So if you’re looking for a stylish ankle bootie that will keep you warm and not make you look like you’re trekking across the Tundra, I highly encourage you to pick up a pair! Some of the sizes are already sold out, but I know a lot of Urban Outfitters have them in the store so call around or stop by your local store. 🙂
