Happy First Day of Spring, friends! Warmer days are (hopefully) here to stay, and today I’m breaking out one of my top favorite prints–Anchors. 😀
It’s no secret that I love a good anchor print…In fact, I’m not sure there is such a thing as a bad anchor print! I don’t live near the beach, nor do I have a house on the lake, but regardless of these things, I am a seaside girl at heart!
One of my favorite pieces to wear in spring and summer is skirts–they can be worn with just about any type of blouse or sweater, they are breathable, and when you find one with pockets like these from J.Crew Factory, you can’t help but purchase every color! Seriously, these skirts are the most flattering pieces of clothing in my closet.
So naturally I began to look around Instagram to see if other shops offered different prints in the same skirt silhouette. I came across A LOT of different shops, all with great fabrics and options, but they were expensive! I understand and appreciate the time and effort it takes to sew a piece of clothing (trust me, I’ve sewn a handful of my own!), but if it’s cheaper to make my own, then I’m going to! Several months ago, I discovered Sarta Designs on Instagram and immediately fell in love with her skirts! Alex, the entrepreneur behind the boutique, is one sweet and very talented girl! Her scalloped hems and seersucker fabrics are just a handful of the things I am swooning over this spring. And did I mention that her prices are kick-butt and her skirts have pockets?? That’s a #winwin in my book!
When Alex reached out to me about collaborating on a skirt design, I was so excited and humbled at the same time! I immediately started thinking of a fun spring-y plaid print because #duh plaid is my love, but Alex showed me a couple of anchor-print fabrics, and I couldn’t say no. Seriously, ladies, what is better than a nautical print in the spring and summer?? And then she mentioned adding sash…I swooned. This skirt automatically comes with the red sash, but you can request to have a different sash added (or no sash) for an additional cost. I went with a classic red-white-navy nautical look, but this skirt could easily be styled with a flowy blouse in a bright shade of pink or striped linen top and a pair of wedges. Seriously, this skirt will be on heavy rotation over the next few months #sorrynotsorry! Be sure to use code WHITLEY to receive 10% off your order at Sarta Designs, and if you don’t see your size or wish for a longer length, Alex will be happy to help. Check her out, you won’t regret it! 🙂
