WOW, can you believe that this weekend is Memorial Day weekend, already?? I feel like May just started, and here we are looking at June.
June is going to be a fun month, for the Schoops! We’ll find out if Baby #2 is a boy or a girl, we will also find out what my best friend is having (we’re due at the same time!), we’ve got a big family weekend planned at the lakehouse, and lots of other things I can’t wait to share with you guys! 🙂 All in all, not a packed month, but there is a good mix of large and small events spread throughout the month that will keep us on our toes, I am sure.
And before we know it, July will be here! Oy.
It’s funny how our summer never begins with a packed schedule, but somehow it usually ends up being a whirlwind. Anyone else feel like that?? Right now, Lilly is really young so I cannot imagine how busy summers with multiple school-aged children can be!
Even with how relatively “un-eventful” our lives are, right now (being a toddler-mom is a different kind of busy!), comfort and ease have really become my M.O. when getting dressed for the day–especially during the summer. Being a sweaty mess is not a very attractive look on me, so I usually reach for things in cotton, linen, or jersey fabrics in light or bright colors. Anything that will keep me cool, and anything that can be worn while wrestling a toddler into her carseat! 😀 (Have you ever tried getting a toddler into a carseat?? Sometimes it’s like wrestling an alligator. No need to work out, just skip the gym.)
my go-to summer color
Besides lightweight, breathable fabrics, I also tend to gravitate towards lighter colors. Usually, navy is my go-to color when picking out my outfit–I have never met a navy stripe or gingham piece that I could say no to–because it goes with everything and looks classy no matter what the piece is! But when summer rolls around, light blue (or baby blue) is my color of choice! Just like navy, I can pair pretty much any color with it–and since it’s too warm to show off my styling skills with layers, I rely heavily on a bold shoe, lip color, or statement earrings to set my look apart!
Aaaaand like navy, I have yet to meet a light blue gingham dress or striped top that I didn’t like. 😀 I’m pretty sure the blue section of my closet makes up one-third of my entire wardrobe! *no shame* I’ve got quite a few light blue and baby blue pieces that I am currently crushing on, so check them out below!
Now, if I could just continue to say no to this pair of gingham Keds x Kate Spade New York sneakers…wish me luck.
Stay Classy!
