Even though October has officially arrived, temperatures are a little above average right now. I can’t complain too much, the humidity is gone, and it’s breezy so it doesn’t really feel like it’s in the low 80s, and the mornings and evening are still cool. So while Fall continues to figure her stuff out (and while Baby Girl is content staying put for the time being), I am sticking with comfortable outfits that can easily transition from daytime to nighttime temps! M. and I have been taking a lot of walks in the evenings to try to speed up labor, haha, and it cools off enough to need light layers.
For me, that means a comfy pair of jeans or leggings, a lightweight shirt like this tissue turtleneck (at 39 weeks, I can’t believe it still fits!!), ankle booties, and a vest to throw on.
Definitely my most favorite color of the season, burgundy has been popping up in so many of my outfits lately! Whether it’s these adorable ankle booties that I also styled here, or the burgundy lip color I can’t stop wearing, I’m obsessed!! So when J.Crew came out with the burgundy color of my favorite vest from last year, I obviously needed to add it to my collection. 😀
You might remember my grey vest I purchased last year, I wore it so much! It’s a different fabric than the traditional excursion vests that J.Crew makes, and while they call it a ‘flannel’ vest, it’s not heavy like traditional flannel fabric. I like that it’s not a slippery-feeling fabric, and it feels a bit sturdier than traditional excursion vests.
For sizing reference, I got my normal size, and sizing runs the same as the other excursion vests. I usually like to size down from my normal shirt size when I purchase a vest, because I prefer a more snug fit.
While I needed another quilted vest like I needed a hole in the head, I just couldn’t say no to this color! I’ve been waiting for years for J.Crew to come out with a burgundy shade, literally saying no to vests from other retailers that were much cheaper, and my waiting finally paid off :D.
While I love a great deal and am all about finding less expensive dupes, outerwear is something I always invest in (see what I did there?)!
