Happy Tuesday, y’all!
I hope everyone has recovered from Thanksgiving, Black Friday & Cyber Monday shopping, and all the stuffing in between :D. Lilly, M. and I really enjoyed our time with my family, and it was so awesome to watch Lilly with my mom! Lilly started calling my mother “Mimi” (she can’t say “Grammie”, yet), and spent a lot of the time running around saying “bow wow” to the bulldog because that’s what all dogs are called! 😀
She and Charlie became buds; he would follow her around everywhere, sit underneath her highchair…although, I’m pretty sure that last one is because she tried to give Charlie her bowl…
M., Lilly wants a “wau-wau” for Christmas! 😀
Speaking of Christmas, can you believe that FRIDAY is the first of December??? Like, where did the time go?! I gave myself a little pat on the back, thinking I had started my Christmas shopping fairly early, and now I’m kind of freaking out that I’m only halfway done. And it’s almost December. *yikes*
One thing that I already have checked off my to-do list is to plan our Christmas outfits. As in, I have already planned mine for the entire month, and Lilly and M. are almost finished. (M. is currently rolling his eyes at me)
What can I say, Christmas is my favorite time of the year, and I can’t get enough of the holiday decor and festive outfits! One of my favorite festive things to wear is colored tights. Colored tights are great to wear in both fall and winter, but today I’m sharing a holiday-specific outfit!
I have always been a HUGE fan of colored tights. Whether it be an opaque navy, a bright holiday red, or a more subtle shade of burgundy, colored tights are a fun way to add some color to any outfit! For today’s outfit, I kept things pretty simple in terms of colors and patterns. I wanted the focus to be on the plaid scarf and pops of red, rather than on the tights themselves!
The navy acts as a common thread, pulling the whole outfit together. It’s my favorite neutral, and really lends itself to keeping the ensemble cohesive and not busy! When wearing colored tights, a good rule to follow is to match them with another part of your outfit. Going with the same color on top and on bottom will have a lengthening effect, since the illusion is of one long, continuous line. (MAJOR bonus for us fun-sized peeps!)
In hindsight, I probably should have gone with tights that had a heavier denier (higher opacity) to perfectly match my pullover, scarf, and boots, but oh well. 🙂 #nexttime Also, the ankle booties might not have been the best in making my legs look longer–I think they chop off my legs at the ankle, but ya live and learn! 😀
I’ve got a couple more festive outfits coming your way, all revolving around colored tights (plus a how-to-wear post, as well!), so keep your eyes out for that.
And now on to the really fun part 😀
