Sooo there’s this trend; aaaaaand I kinda like it….
Ok, more than like, I might be a tad bit obsessed with it.
If you’re just not a fan of the pineapple trend, I totally respect you for not following the crowd, but for me, it took the crowd to convince me to try something I normally wouldn’t have! If you remember this post, then you might recall that fruity prints were not my thing. I had no animosity towards them, it was more of an indifference towards cherry and watermelon prints.
And when this pineapple shirt started popping up on my Instagram feed, I thought I could appreciate from afar but let everyone else enjoy without me. 🙂 But then I started thinking, “Why not give it a try? It’s not your favorite, you don’t absolutely love it but it’s kinda cute, so you might as well try it and then decide if you like it!” So in a way I was following the crowd, and yes, the hashtag #igmademedoit would be more than appropriate here, but I didn’t hop on the pineapple bandwagon because everyone else was doing it. I decided to try it because everyone else seemed to love it, and I might end up liking it, too, if that makes sense. I didn’t follow the crowd so as not to feel left out, I followed the crowd because you all tend to convince me to try new things that I normally wouldn’t have if I were left in my own little bubble! I may be considered a fashionista, but you all are the ones who really deserve that title…I am so thankful for the Instagram world because without you guys, I would never be challenged!
If you’re hanging back and haven’t tried out a trend because you don’t want to appear to be following the crowd, think about the pros and cons of the trend and decide for yourself if you like it. Maybe try it out before you decide that you don’t like it, and then you can back that up with not wanting to follow the crowd. Or if you do try it and like it, you can then say the crowd convinced you to try it but you decided for yourself that you liked it. It’s ok to “follow the crowd” if it causes you to try new things!

So about this pineapple print….I didn’t exactly jump on the Target pineapple shirt bandwagon, although I would NOT be opposed to adding it to my closet, I did manage to fall in love with the pineapple print trend when this shirt arrived! Some of you may have discovered that I model for The Crystal Feather Boutique, and when Megan showed me a picture of this shirt before sending it to me to model, I was hooked.
Seriously, it really was this shirt that finally convinced me that pineapple prints were adorable, and I’m not just saying this because she sent me the shirt, I really have fallen in love with pineapples! And what I love even more about this shirt is that it has a dressy and very feminine silhouette and is easily dressed up or down. I initially tucked it into my skirt for church last week, but for the modeling pictures I left it untucked so people could see the hemline of the shirt. When I looked at the photos after shooting, I realized that I actually liked the way it looked untucked! Tuck it in for a more professional look, leave it untucked for a still classy but a bit more relaxed style. Aaaaand another thing I noticed after taking pictures is that my skirt was terribly wrinkled from sitting in church and in my car while running errands….oops!
Don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it, and in this case, I’m really glad I did! Don’t be afraid to let the crowd persuade you to try something new, I guarantee you won’t regret it! 🙂
Stay Classy!
Cute Whit!! I just may pick that up for our summer vacation! Susan
