Happy Monday, friends!
I spent all last week cleaning and organizing like a mad-woman, trying to get finish up everything before Baby Girl makes her debut. (Any day now!)
Now when I say “like a mad-woman”, what that really looks like is I clean for 30 minutes, rest for an hour. Eat a snack. Clean for 30 minutes, rest another hour. Pee 20 times. Repeat.
It’s slow progress, but I am (finally) seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!
But enough about my week, let’s talk about one of my favorite trends this fall…Over-the-knee boots with dresses!
Are any of you dying to break out your new fall boots but are unlucky enough to still be dealing with summer-like temperatures? You bought them during the pre-fall sale mania known as the #nsale, and in your closet, they have sat for the last month and a half…You take them out, every now and then, begging hoping the weather will cool off…You wake up one morning and see that the current temp is low 60s so you excitedly get dressed for the day, and then by the time you get out of work, surprise!, it’s back to feeling like June.
Ugh.
So what’s a desperate fashionista to do with those super-cute fall boots? Pair them with a dress, of course! Ankle booties, riding boots, and especially over-the-knee boots, all look stylish paired with a dress/skirt. Layer with a jacket for those cooler morning and evening temps!
One trend I am super excited to try this fall is pairing over-the-knee boots (also known as “OTK” boots) with a dress! Usually my formula for wearing OTK boots has been leggings + oversized top + OTK boots, or jeans + OTK boots + sweater, but I am happy to try something else to switch up my OTK game.
Being a petite person (just under 5’2!), sometimes it’s difficult for me to find dresses that are the right length. Most dresses end up being too long to wear with over-the-knee boots, and sometimes (shockingly) some end up being too short!
This lace dress from SheIn ended up being the perfect length for my small size, but some of you ladies blessed with height might find it a tad short!
With that being said, you could totally rock this dress as a tunic with leggings or denim and still pair with OTK boots. It’s super breathable–I am not exaggerating when I say I feel like I have A/C blowing through my sleeves, it’s that good.
And with being over nine months pregnant, I am desperate for lightweight, breathable clothing.
For my fellow-expectant mamas out there–this dress is very bump-friendly! I’m actually wearing my pre-pregnancy size, and it fits loosely over my belly and, um, the girls up top. 😀
I’d love to hear if you’ve tried out the over-the-knee boots and dress trend, or if there are other ways you like to rock your OTK boots!
