So a lot of you saw my break-up letter with my Summer Wardrobe on Friday, and over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been pulling out a lot of my fall pieces to wear now. I’ve added this lightweight copper pullover to my rotation, and recently picked up the same shirt in navy, blush, and gray. It also comes in olive, and at $20 a piece, I might find it hard to say no!
Ok, so let’s take a look at some things we can do to help transition our wardrobes from summer to fall…
Pre-Fall Neutrals to Wear Now
If you’re wondering about what pre-fall pieces you can add to your wardrobe, or wondering what can be dug out of the back of your closet to wear now, neutrals are a great place to start! Colors like camel, navy, olive green etc. are what we will be focusing on today.
Camel:
Camel is the perfect fall neutral, and you can easily pair it with your more summery colors like cobalt, pink, red, etc. Try a camel-colored pullover paired with denim (or gingham!) shorts, or pair this poncho with a pair of white denim. Other shades you could go with, instead, would be beige or nude, like these nude colored flats or suede peep toe booties
Navy:
Navy is basically an all-season neutral, but pairing it with other fall colors like burgundy or camel will give it a fresh fall look. Pair your navy blazer with a striped tee, white denim, and add those beige/nude colored shoes we talked about earlier. Throw in this cute cheetah print fold-over clutch, and you’ve got a chic pre-fall date night look!
Gray
Gray, like navy, has become a neutral that can really be worn year-round. I wore a lot of gray this summer, but I’m really looking forward to wearing my warm, gray sweaters! Although it’s not cool enough for sweaters (and definitely won’t be for awhile here in the Bluegrass!), lightweight pullovers, dresses, etc. are great basics to pair with your fall accessories. One of my favorite gray wardrobe items is my gray skinny jeans (similar to these). I’ve paired them with blush shirts and sweaters, cream flow blouses, and even striped t-shirts for in-between the seasons.
There are LOTS of ways you can start transitioning your wardrobe from summer to fall, all without breaking a sweat (literally!) or breaking the bank! Make an inventory of what fall pieces you have and see what can easily be worn with shorts and denim, or what accessories would look great with some of your summer pieces.
