Hello lovelies!
I hope you are as excited about the giveaway I posted about yesterday as I am! If you haven’t checked it out, it’s pretty awesome, I’m not gonna lie, so go check it out! 😀
I was so excited to get back into my normal blogging routine of writing posts, taking outfit pics, editing them, outfit planning, today was going to be my first outfit post since coming back from our trip (its been 1 month and 3 days since my last outfit post!!!)….and then my computer decided that it was going to die yesterday. I just about had a panic attack. ALL of my papers from college are on there, along with my teacher portfolio and resumes, not to mention the bajillion pictures from my entire life’s story (not really) are saved on that little hard drive. And then I realized I’d have to write my blog post from my iPad. Oi.
You see, there is an app for Blogger for the iPad, but it only offers the most basic of tools of typing, bold face, italics, and adding a picture. No option for adding links (I did manage to get one!), you can’t resize the pictures, and you can’t input any HTML. Why am I sharing this with you? Well, because I want you to understand that Whitley hasn’t gone off the reservation with her post quality because she’s been gone for so long! But I’m sure you all haven’t thought that…:D
SO, without further ado, I couldn’t wait to share this outfit with you all! I am a huge fan of stripes, but what I really love about this outfit is that it is layering stripes on stripes! The key to layering the same pattern on top of each other, or layering different patterns, is to layer different sizes, textures, colors, or alignments together.
See how I paired a shirt with horizontal stripes underneath the blazer that has vertical stripes? And notice how the stripes are also different colors and sizes. The key to pattern mixing, especially with the same pattern, is contrast (yes i purposely put that word in bold to contrast with the other words :D).
Can I be honest with you all? This outfit was sort of a huge risk for me…Pairing different patterns together has never really been difficult for me, but the thought of pairing the same type pattern together made me nervous. Don’t you like the nervous feeling you get when trying something a little risky and then getting the rush of excitement when you find out it actually works? Yeah, me too!
Unfortunately I can’t input links to everything, but I can tell you where everything is from!
The Deets:
Shirt: H&M (pretty awesome J.Crew lookalike, right?) // Blazer: J.Crew
So lovelies, you will have to bear with me for another day or two while my laptop is being fixed (and everything is being backed up to an external drive). I promise I will be up and running under normal operating standards by Thursday! 😀
Check back tomorrow and see what I have on my Fall Wishlist, it’s that time of year again to be thinking about our wardrobe maximization 😀
Linking up with Real Girl Glam today!
I've been shy about mixing patterns but various forms of stripes is definitely something I can get on board with!

Love stripes on stripes, you totally nailed it! I'm dying over the tassel necklace, that's definitely on my fall wish list; can't wait to see what's on yours tomorrow! =)
PS I hope your computer problems are resolved soon, those are the worst. Seriously, the worst.

Glad to hear your computer is getting fixed! My logic board went out earlier this year and the genius at the apple store told me I had lost EVERYTHING on my hard drive. Luckily, my fiance refused to give up. He did some googling, bought a fire wire from Best Buy for $20, and got everything off of my computer onto his. So I always tell anyone with a computer crash to buy a fire wire if they don't have things backed up. 🙂

You did good with taking the risk of mixing patterns. I like the vertical and horizontal stripes together. Cool idea. 🙂
