Happy Summer, lovelies!
I know it isn’t officially summer, yet, but with the weather being as warm as it is, it is definitely summer in my book! The weather here in the Midwest has officially hit summer temperatures (it was 91 today!!) and terribly humid. I have basically given up my normal hair routine, as my hair seems to have already gone on it’s own vacation. ๐ This summer, I will (hopefully) have job interviews for teaching positions, working in a clothing boutique, learning to sew my own dresses, and vacationing in Germany for a couple of weeks. It will be a packed but fun summer, and I am so happy it is here!
I apologize for being absent yesterday, I took my hubby to the airport on Tuesday, and then I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening with a friend of mine who’s hubby is also out of town. We basically had a support group going, trying to keep our minds off of our men’s absences (thankfully I’ll see mine in two more days!), so we went through her closet getting rid of things she no longer wants, and then we headed to a bistro downtown for $10 Martinis and Manicures! Um, yeah, pretty amazing, right???
Yesterday, I spent my time dropping off resumes, creating fantastic (imaginary) outfits with my (imaginary) clothes…You know, the things on my wishlist but can’t have because of my closet remix. ๐ Actually, it was quite therapeutic, after all, half the fun of having new clothes is planning outfit creations! When I couldn’t stand not shopping any longer, I broke down and went to the mall. Just to look around, of course. Now, I know what you all may be thinking, “Why the heck would you go to the mall, that’s like an alcoholic going into a liquor store, just to admire the new vino??” Well, yes and no. Sure, it was tempting, but the farther along in my challenge I get (I am now halfway through!), I find myself becoming more discriminate in what I would purchase, if I could. To satisfy my need for retail therapy, I decided to go to J.Crew to do some research on their new collection, and I ended up networking with a couple of stylists there who invited me to attend the special events surrounding the arrival of J.Crew’s new collection next week! I am SUPER excited to attend next week and of course I will take lots of pictures and blog about it ๐
I walked out of there with a notebook (hey, it’s not apparel, right?), and then I headed over to Target to finish my therapy. If you saw my post last week about note cards, you know I have a weakness for them as well as office supplies. Notebooks, in particular, I enjoy!
This outfit is a true closet remix, because the shirt and blazer have not been worn for over a year! I really have no idea why I have not worn this blazer but once, it’s probably the most adorable yet professional looking blazer I have seen (totally in love with the braided cord belt detail!).
The green racerbank tank has been a huge wardrobe staple the past couple summers. There’s just something so perfect about a cotton racerback tank in a bright color. It can be worn casual with shorts and sandals, or dressed up with a skirt and blazer, like here. I literally wore this tank top two times a week the last two summers. And it is still in good condition!
Stay Classy!

Love that anchor print skirt! I am jealous of your ability to go to the mall and not buy anything…I am the worst at that, especially since I live directly across the street from my favorite mall ๐ Looking forward to seeing your J Crew event pics- that sounds like so much fun!

Don't you just love rediscovering pieces in your closet and realizing you love them?! It's almost like shopping for something new! You are doing awesome at the challenge! I already told you, but I love everything about this outfit! Especially the anchors and that blazer! If you need blog help while you're gone, I can help!

Ok, so our summers are basically twins. I move to Germany in 4 weeks (so feel free to hit me up once you get there!). I've pretty much thrown in the towel over finding a teaching job, as now that I have a master's and will be a first year teacher, no one wants me (oh yes, and I'm moving to Germany in 4 weeks). If you want, should we happen to connect overseas, I'd be happy to teach you how to sew your own dresses! My undergrad was in fashion design! Let me know!
