A quick rundown of my weekend:
1). My mother and I stayed up past 2am making dumplings from scratch (which ended up being the best batch ever made, according to my extended family).
2). Spent Thanksgiving day with my mom’s side, and the conclusions I made are that I am incredibly blessed with such amazing family who will stick by me no matter what (I have the most amazing aunts, uncles, cousins, mother, father, sisters, brother, and grandmother EVER).
3). Went Black Friday shopping with my mother and sisters at 10pm on Thursday, decided that the new tradition starting next year would be to get matching PJs, drink hot chocolate while watching a movie, sleep in, and THEN go BF shopping at a more reasonable time while everyone else is back in bed (i.e. NO LINES AND CROWDS!!).
4). Christmas tree shopping and the annual family picture with Santa Clause on Friday. No joke, (almost) every year, we have a family photo taken with Santa at the mall. It was a tradition I always shunned as being too lame, as if anyone could ever be too cool for Santa!
5). This sweater and pair of socks are probably my most favorite purchases from Black Friday, and you can expect to see them quite a bit on Instagram! The sweater I snagged for a super sweet $12, and it is oh so soft and cozy, a definite staple in my book! I grabbed this pair and another pair in red at Gap, and now I’m kind of obsessed with the whole patterned socks with Sperrys look. I actually have to give credit to my sister-in-law for giving me the inspiration a few years ago, with wearing patterned socks and flats together (thanks, A!), because now I am IN LOVE. Like, no joke, I may or may not be planning outfits in my head completely revolving around wearing fair isle socks with flats!
If you have been looking for warm socks in a fair isle pattern, I highly recommend these because 1) they are SUPER soft and thick and comfy, and 2) they are also the most inexpensive high-quality pair I’ve seen out there! I’ve been eyeing these cute ones from J.Crew, but just can’t bring myself to pay $28 for a pair of socks (but I might have to break down for these!). Go to your nearest Gap and buy these socks.
You. Will. Not. Regret. It.
Here are some of the other fair isle socks I’ve been drooling over; how cute would these look peeking over the top of some Bean Boots or ankle booties?
So lovelies, I hope you all had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving weekend with your family,
I’d love to hear all about it!
