Wearing white after Labor Day? Yeah, that rule never really jived with me. In my book, white (and especially white denim) is acceptable year-round!
So let’s talk about white denim, specifically, white maternity denim. I’ve got one word for you–INVEST. You may be wondering, “why spend the money when I’ll only wear them when I’m pregnant?”. When it comes to a wardrobe staple like jeans, quality is what you need.
I have lived in these jeans all summer long! They have been a huge lifesaver, and because I wore them so much, price per wear was super low. And they still look like new!
I ended up purchasing another pair of white jeans from Target just to keep my J.Crew pair from getting worn out, aaaand I’ve barely worn them. The ones from Target are not flattering in the thighs, and after wearing it once, it completely stretched out in the waist and hips. I’m constantly having to tug on them every 15 minutes to keep from falling down, and even after washing and drying, they are still stretched out. womp womp.
So I’ve kept them as a back-up, and just stuck with wearing my J.Crew pair. I followed the suggestions to size up one size from my pre-maternity size (white denim also tends to run smaller), and they have been the perfect fit! Even in my 3rd trimester, they have fit me so far and unless I gain a ton of weight in these last few weeks, they should last me all the way up to delivery (and in future pregnancies, too)!
And I’m pretty sure it’s totally acceptable to wear them post-partum while my body goes back to normal, so that’s a win in my book. 😀 So to recap–if you’re expecting, and really this applies to non-expectant women, it is always better to pay the higher price tag for things you know will be a staple in your wardrobe. Just scroll back through my Instagram feed, or even my posts the last couple of months, and you will see just how much I’ve worn these jeans.
Of course I’m not saying that there aren’t incredible pairs of white denim out there that are only a fraction of the cost…But in my own experience, making the investment was more than worth it. 🙂
If you’re a mom-to-be, or already a mother, what pieces do think are worth investing in?
