Hey y’all!
PHEW, it’s been a couple of months (literally, two months) since I’ve popped on here to say hi!! We’ve been completely settled into our home for awhile, now, and have been enjoying the random days of cooler weather that have allowed us to get outside! Buut, this weather this week has been back up in the upper 80s and 90s, so that taste of fall was rather short-lived. 😛
I have, however, completely switched out my summer pieces for my fall clothes, but I have left a few summer basics in rotation, because let’s face it, no matter how many PSLs you chug (Chai Latte, for me!), 90 degrees is 90 degrees, and Mother-Nature isn’t budging anytime soon! But tomorrow is officially the first day of fall, SO…keeping my fingers crossed…
So let’s talk about some rules that I will NOT be following, this fall–there are three that come to mind, #1 “No White After Labor Day”, #2 No Bright Colors, #3 No Shorts. Check them out below!
Rule #1: ‘No White After Labor Day’
I am a TOTAL “no white after Labor Day” rule-breaker. 😀 Does anyone ever actually follow this rule? Maybe it’s more of my mom’s generation, and older (she did ask me why I was still wearing my white jeans…It’s totally cool, now, Mom! <3), but I know I see white denim and the all-white (or cream and white) look being styled well into winter!
Rule #2: No Bright Colors
But what about other colors that are considered more “summer-like”? When most people transition to their fall wardrobes, they wear lots of warm muted colors like camel, mustard, olive, burgundy, etc., (I know I do!), but tend to forget some of the brighter colors we were rocking all summer. Colors like lilac, bright red, pink, etc. tend to get pushed to the back of our closets, even though they can easily be styled throughout fall and winter!
(And speaking of bright red) You guys–I’m pretty sure these red loafers are the comfiest shoes in my entire closet. I’m not even exaggerating a little bit, they fit like a glove, and provide some pretty cushy support! And no, this post is not in anyway affiliated or sponsored by UGGS, I bought the loafers during the NSALE in July and have fallen IN.LOVE. with them. I’m seriously considering purchasing either the cream color or this similar pair in burgundy!
If you’re looking to snag a bright red pair for yourself (also perfect for the Christmas holiday season!), just know that the color is listed as “red orange” on websites, but it is truly a bright red with very little of an orange tint to them (just depends on the light).
Shop the Post:
Top: old, love this one (non-maternity & on sale!) | Denim jacket: H&M | White denim: J.Crew maternity (old), love this maternity pair & my favorite non-maternity pair | Loafers: UGG (called ‘Red Orange’) here | Monogram: Julia Marie
Rule #3: No Shorts
OK, so back to the rules I’m going to break…shorts. I.Love.Shorts.with tights! I don’t care of it is no longer in-style, I plan on wearing shorts with tights until shorts are no longer in-style! Maybe it’s because I’ve watched all the seasons of Gossip Girl one too many times, (I blame you, Blair Waldorf!) but there is something about that preppy look! I’m thinking about trying shorts with over-the-knee boots…Thoughts??
So, are you team #allfall, or are there some rules that you love to break, as well? I’d love to hear from you!
Stay Classy!
