With the temperature dropping down into the 30s and 40s the next couple of days, I naturally will gravitate towards thick, warm sweaters for my layer of choice. This season, I have particularly fallen in love with the fair isle print! Growing up, I use to think that the snow flakes, stripes, and diamond patterns of the fair isle were silly and looked like someone couldn’t make up their mind when designing the sweaters! This season, I am ALL about the different colors and patterns of the fair isle sweater!
The different colors and patterns make the fair isle sweater the perfect piece to add color and interest to an outfit. Simply pop it over a button down, throw on some jeans and bean boots, and you have a simple formula for a stylish late fall/winter outfit! You will be surprised at how versatile a highly patterned sweater like fair isle can be, I have worn this sweater from J.Crew at least once a week. It’s so cozy, but it gives interest to a basic sweater and jeans weekend look.
Another fun way to add fair isle to your wardrobe is to grab a pair of thick socks and pair them with ankle booties. Cuff your jeans just above the ankle and let the socks peak out over the top of the bootie to show off the fun colors. With the weather getting colder, I just might have to copy this look quite frequently!
So lovelies, stay cozy these next few days if you’re experiencing winter-like temperatures!
