Happy Monday, lovelies!
Sooo, I had a pretty cool experience on Saturday night at work….I’m still super shocked! Ok, so I was at work and it was kind of slow that evening, and in walks this brunette woman that looked an awful lot like Mary Lynn Rajskub At first I thought she looked like someone I knew, and then I thought, “Nahhh, it couldn’t be!” I greeted her, and at first she was nice but seemed like she was trying to go unnoticed. I asked if she had been an actress on 24, and she smiled and said that she was. I was having a fangirl moment!
So, I let her look around the store a little bit, trying not to go crazy, but I did sneak an “OMG, I’M GONNA DIE, SHE’S IN OUR SHOP AND I’M ACTUALLY TALKING TO HER” face at my co-stylist
Pathetic, I know :D.
Sooo, she grabbed a couple of tops and headed into a dressing room, I talked a little bit about what my boutique does, and she came out to show me a top she had picked out. She asked me what I thought would look good with it (OMG, she asked for my opinion?!?!!), and I told her I thought it would look great with a pair of Paige coated black skinny jeans. Welllll, she liked them so much (and the booties I showed her) that she ended up getting them and planned on wearing it to the comedy show she was doing that night!
OH…MY….GOSH, I about died. Seriously, it was such a cool experience, she was super nice, and we had a great time talking about her background, what I do as a blogger, basically just being two women talking about our lives as if she were any other customer that had come in to shop.
I didn’t ask for a picture with her or an autograph, (although I kinda wish I had), but I wanted to give her just a little bit of normalcy that I’m sure she doesn’t often get, and we had a great time.
Seriously, I still can’t believe I got to meet her!!!!
So lovelies, I had a pretty awesome weekend. It wasn’t really the fact that I met and had the opportunity to style a celebrity, but the fact that she was normal and fun to work with. Just a regular woman. And at the end of the day, that is what we all are, and sometimes I need to remind myself that. Sometimes I let myself get caught up in being a fashion blogger and forget that I’m still me, I don’t always dress glamorously, and once in awhile I still make fashion foo paws (ok, who would EVER wear stripes with sequins with coral skinny jeans and a neon yellow bubble necklace with striped shoes?? Oh wait….), but that’s otay. It is what makes me human. I mean, let’s face it, I would be rather boring and frankly a little unapproachable if I NEVER made a mistake, right?
And looking back at that blog post, I am SO glad I learned how to do better make up. Seriously, I look like I’ve either had the flu or I’m sixteen years old. 😀
And can I add just one more thing in??? Let me just say that I am head over heels IN LOVE with plaid!!!! I am going to apologize up front (may already be too late), that I am sorry that I’m NOT sorry that you will be seeing plaid on here at least once a week. Just sayin’, plaid is the greatest thing to happen since gluten free sliced bread! And just when I thought there couldn’t be anyone who is more obsessed with plaid than me, I discovered that I had a twin and we were separated at birth. If you don’t believe me, check out Ray’s Mad for Plaid wishlist and some of her recent posts. Seriously, we could be sisters.
Ok, I lied, I have ONE MORE last thing….Tomorrow is the 1st of October, if you can believe that, and to celebrate, we on Instagram are having National Wear Your Vest Day, particularly the Herringbone vest from J.Crew! On Instagram, we are all going to wear our herringbone vests (dupe versions welcome) and hashtag the pictures with #nationalherringbonevestday so we can all share our pictures and the fun event. If you do not have either version, you are still welcome to participate with any vest and hashtag it with #nationalvestday :). If you are looking for some inspiration for how to style your vest, check out my posts here and here for some ideas!
Hope you’ll have a happy start to your week, and I look forward to seeing your vest pictures on Instagram!
