Hey friends!
About two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to attend a networking event with fellow Lexington bloggers, at Wise Bird Cider! This was my first event, since Rosie was born, so I was a little anxious to dip my toes back in the water; looking back, there was no reason to be nervous! All my fellow bloggers were super sweet and welcoming, I saw a few faces I recognized, ran into an old friend (Hey Rynetta!), and got to sip different ciders and sample tasty treats from Martine’s!
Wise Bird Cider is a new cidery in the Distillery District on Manchester Street, with a large combination of indoor and outdoor space. They brew their own hard cider, in house, and have quite an offering of different flavors and tartness! Most of the apples for their ciders are sourced right here in Kentucky, but they also source harder to find cider-specific apples from Ohio and Virginia. Tim Wright, the founder, walked us through the different ciders we could sample, along with the whole process of what it takes to brew the best hard cider!
As someone who has never liked beer (and also has Celiac), hard cider became one of my favorite drinks to relax with. The ciders at Wisebird are much more tart than the traditional brands you would find in stores, so if you are not a fan of sweet drinks, these hard ciders would be perfect for you! I ended up taking a bottle home with me–my favorite cider on the menu was the Pomme Pomme–very fruity, semi-sweet, and refreshing. But don’t worry if your friend or significant other is not a fan of hard ciders–they also offer a rotating selection of local beers. 🙂
Aaaand they have cider slushes, sangria, and MIMOSAS!!! Y’all, the cider mimosa and slush were life.changing. I will occasionally drink mimosas for brunch, but I enjoyed the cider mimosa more, because it contained less alcohol. You can check out their menu here, as well as inquire about renting space for parties and get-togethers!
Thank you to Sarah from Space, Place, and Southern Grace for putting together this fun event, and a huge thank you to Wise Bird Cider and Martine’s Pastries for the amazing bites and sips!
Stay Classy!
