First of all, I just want to say thank you all SO much for your support and encouragement about yesterday’s post! So many of you left comments on Instagram about how you learned something, appreciated my honesty, etc., and that means a lot to me–thank you guys!!
WOW, I cannot believe that on Friday, I will be 20 weeks along and halfway through my pregnancy already!! Next Tuesday, on the 12th, we get to find out if we’re having a girl or a boy…I keep bouncing back and forth, and M. is pretty sure it’s a boy, so we will see!! <3<3<3
Workwear Wednesday: Show Off That Bump!
Something I did while pregnant with Lilly, and am doing again, is trying to make my regular wardrobe work with my growing bump…especially when it comes to workwear (even though I am a SAHM, I still try to dress up for church, running errands, etc). I am almost out of that awkward phase of looking like is she pregnant/did she gain weight? , so to make it more obvious that I am, indeed, rocking a bump and not last night’s double slice of cheesecake (true story!), I usually will add a belt to accentuate my belly!
Because a pregnancy bump is the best accessory, amiright? 😉
If you are expecting a baby and ready to show off your beautiful new baby bump, grab a skinny belt and try belting your favorite sheath or shift dress! In fact, try belting any of your flow-y dresses, tunics, or tops–the belt will give it more shape. Opt for something in a fun color, if you’re like me and can’t get enough of the pop of color trick–and loop it around into a fun knot or bow (this is a great trick for styling belts that are super long)!
The belting trick to accentuate your bump also works with loose-fitting blazers, button down shirts over a pencil skirt, etc. The key is to create a defined silhouette and keep yourself from looking like you’re wearing a shapeless potato sack. 🙂 (I do love a good “potato-sack” dress, but it does not have a place in a polished work environment).
Best Sheath Dresses Under $175
Unfortunately, my dress is no longer available (it is from a few seasons ago!), but there are quite a few options out there! Besides belting some of my favorite pieces to give them more shape, another trick I have used while being pregnant is to purchase non-maternity pieces but in a size or two up from my pre-pregnancy size. By buying fewer maternity pieces, I am guaranteeing that I will get more wear from my clothes long after the baby arrives. Even if you plan on having more children, you may not be pregnant at the same time of the year!
Check out these great under $175 sheath dresses and find something that works for you. Bonus: most of the dresses are under $100!
